Thoughts about KSA release
game
Hi people, I’m finally back on the website development after weeks of delaying. Now, I’ve came to talk about the first and new public release of the game Kitten Space Agency; it’s certainly something worth writing.
As some may know, the previous space simulation game known as Kerbal Space Program has been officially out of support since 2023. As a fan of this video game genre, I’ve always been exited for a successor to KSP that incorperates its features and yet has more to provide. KSP2 was total disaster starting from its initial release. It received a very negative rating on steam due to its abundance of bugs and performance issues. The game, along with its company, was sold to an anonymous buyer. In the end, to my prediction, the franchaise would unlikely undergo any development in the future.
Even till now, KSP2 is still up on steam with price that sarcastically calls “poor and broke.” to those who really want to play the game. The ridiculous thing is that the current owner has the confidence to publish merchandise in an abandoned game??? WTF
Okay, enough criticizing. Anyway, I’m super lucky to be able to witness the launch minutes before it happened. I was completely clueless. It was not until the devs verified the release date that I started to wait patiently. And finally, the website went active for download. Immediately, there was cheers and joyfulness in the Discord server. Some rich users donated tens and hundreds of dollars as donations. The website was quite unresponsive, but I still managed to download the exe installation wizard.
As a Linux user, new games like KSA is unlikely to put support on my platform. Using compatibility layers like wine and proton do make the game function and set to place, but after going through some research, I missed out the fact that my devices don’t have good enough specs to run the actual simulation; it explains why the game crashes while stating “Kernel RAM overload” in the program log.
Even till now, my spec doesn’t allow me to run the game without constant screen freezes and crashes (which makes it completely unplayable). Thus, I’m looking forward for my friend to test the build on his high spec Windows machine.
